How
to Use the
40% Glycolic Acid Peel
SPECIAL
NOTE: You will NOT see dramatic results after one or two applications.
The exfoliation process takes at least 6 - 10 peels as skin issues
take time to be resolved. Please have patience!
Preparing the Area:
1.
Cleanse and DRY the area to be exfoliated. DO NOT use a soap-based
product. Soap is an alkali and will neutralize the acid. We recommend
using the 30Glycolic Freshener and Cleanser. If you choose to use
a different cleanser, be sure it is pH balanced to the acidic side.
NOTE:
You can exfoliate your arms, elbows, legs, neck, back, hands &
feet as well as your face.
2.
Pour a liberal amount of the pH Balanced Prepping Solution onto
a cotton ball, and apply it to the area you wish to exfoliate. Let
the area dry completely.
Before applying the Exfoliator, perform a “patch test”
on a dime-sized area of the inside of your arm. As
with any product, there is the chance that you may be highly sensitive
to the glycolic acid. If you are
highly sensitive you will experience burning and immediate redness.
Immediately neutralize the area
with soap and do not continue with the process.
Applying the Peel:
Do not use this product more than once a week.
1. Pour a liberal amount of the 40% Glycolic Acid Exfoliator
onto a cotton ball. Apply a “not
thin, not thick” coating of the acid peel onto the area to
be exfoliated.
a.
Keep the Exfoliator at least a quarter inch away from the
eyes.
b. Do not apply to irritated, sensitive skin or open wounds.
c. If the product is applied to a small cut or abrasion and discomfort
occurs, apply a small amount of Post Peel Neutralizer to the affected
area to neutralize the Exfoliator.
d. Do not apply the Exfoliator to skin that has been waxed
within 24 hours.
e. Do not apply the Exfoliator to skin that has been shaved
within 24 hours.
2.
Leave on for no more than 1-2 minutes. A slight stinging sensation may occur.
This is normal as it means
that the acid is working.
3.
Remove the Exfoliator with the Post-Peel Neutralizer to neutralize
the glycolic acid. Then wash your face with slightly soapy, lukewarm
water.
4.
Gently pat your face with a towel to dry it.
SPECIAL
NOTE: During the first few weeks of exfoliation, there is a risk
of increased breakouts. Blemishes are not only on the surface of
your skin, but beneath it. As you exfoliate away dead skin cells
and clogged pores, those hidden blemishes are flushed to the surface.
Continued exfoliate removes those now revealed blemishes, uncovering
the healthy skin below.
Post-Peel Advice:
1.
Using a cotton ball, apply Freshener or pH Balanced Prepping Solution
to the area that has been exfoliated. This will remove excess skin
cells that have been loosened by the Exfoliator.
2.
Apply moisturizer to the area(s) you have exfoliated. We recommend
our deep moisturizing Chiffon Cream or Royal Chiffon Cream.
NOTE:
Do NOT apply any products or moisturizers (i.e. Alpha Balance Moisturizer)
containing alpha hydroxy acids for 24 hours after applying the
Exfoliator. Use of too many layers of glycolic acid may cause skin
irritation.
3.
Slight reddening of the skin may occur for a limited period of time,
especially in people with sensitive skin. You will not experience
peeling.
4.
DO NOT…
a.
Expose your face to the sun for 24 hours after applying the
Exfoliator.
b. Wax the skin for 24 hours after applying the Exfoliator.
c. Shave directly after application of the Exfoliator.
For external use only. Keep out of reach of small children.
